Durban Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

The sleek beachfront city of Durban, several hundred miles east of Cape Town, has been hosting independent film festivals since 1979 when the country was still ruled by the oppressive policies of apartheid. Now with greater freedoms of artistic expression, gay and trans films have come to South Africa, and the Durban Gay & Lesbian Film Festival has been screening films since 2009, including features about the gay and trans experience in Africa. NOTE: The dates for this festival have not been finalized.
